What to expect:

Help maintain the healthy ecology and lasting beauty of the Columbia Children’s Arboretum!
You will be planting in the rich, dark soil during the glorious Portland fall.
There will be two Girls Inc staff present to assist and monitor. When the event is a week away you will receive an email with names of the Girls Inc staff as well as any other important event info.
What do you need to do:
Dress for the weather, it will probably be rainy and chilly so you want to wear layers and a waterproof jacket as well as waterproof shoes.
Portland Parks will bring all the tools and plants as well as a few extra rain boots and rain jackets for those who need them.
What do parents/guardians need to know:
This event is open to families! If your family and what to attend please make sure to say so in the comments.
If you are participating in planting do bring the above gear with you. Alternately, you can stroll around the park while the planting is happening and meet back up when they are finished.

10:00 – introductions and orientation to park
10:15 – scavenger hunt in park (focusing on plant id characteristics)
10:45 – get in boots and start planting
12:00 – lunch break
12:30 –team building game focusing on using our senses
12:50 – closing circle and walk to buses/cars
