WHAT TO EXPECT:
This will be a powerful night of learning how to access your voice and speak your mind.
This event has an optional second part. After the Poetry Slam Workshop you have the chance to go to Slamlandia and read your own poem if you want to.
There will be a Girls Inc staff present during the workshop. You will receive the info of your Girls Inc staff within 72 hours of the event.
Literary Arts is providing pizza! If you are at all concerned about food, please bring some extra snacks so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
5:30 to 7:00 PM - Slam Poetry Workshop
Hang out with an amazing female poet and learn how to write and deliver slam poetry.
(Optional) 7:00 to 9:00 PM - Slamlandia at Literary Arts
Hang out for Slamlandia and listen to other people share their poems and share your own if you want to! KEEP IN MIND: poetry is often, but not always, personal and content can often have mature themes.

If your youth decides to stay for Slamlandia, KEEP IN MIND: poetry is often, but not always, personal and content can often have mature themes. Please keep that in mind as you decide how you want your youth will engage with Slamlandia.
This is a youth focused event. Expect to drop off your youth and come back to pick them up when the event is done at 7:00 PM or later if your youth wishes to go to Slamlandia.
The event is in downtown Portland in an area where there in many one way streets & light rail tracks. Expect to drop your youth off and either drive to another part of downtown to park or find the nearest parking garage.
