WHAT TO EXPECT:
Get monthly learning session (MLS) credit for playing in the park! To get MLS credit for this event you need to fill out the registration form below & attend the event.
There will be a Girls Inc staff present at this event. When the event is a week away you will receive an email with name & contact of the Girls Inc staff as well as any other important event info.
There will be snacks provided by Girls Inc. but no formal lunch. If you are at all concerned about food, please bring some extra snacks so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
The maximum number of youth that can attend is 15.
You will be in a wetland. Like it’s name suggests you will be walking through knee deep water collecting turtle traps. Be prepared by bringing: a water bottle, clothes that can get wet, rain boots/waders if you have them or shoes that can get wet, a towel to dry off and some layers in case the weather is unpredictable.
Objective: To collect vital information about turtles in Portland’s urban wetlands.
10:00 AM Meet at McKinstry Lot. (McKinstry is a contsruction company located at 16790 NE Mason St, Portland, OR 97230 next to the wetlend)
10:00 - 10:15 AM Intro & getting ready to go into the wetlands.
10:15 AM – 12:00 PM Check and gather traps & process turtles through weighing, measuring & other forms of data collection.

Come to the event and connect with the Girls Inc staff that is monitoring attendance. You will receive info about the Girls Inc staff & starting location around a week away from the event.
WHAT PARENTS/GUARDIANS NEED TO KNOW:
This is a youth focused event. Expect to drop off your youth and come back to pick them up when the event is done.
The maximum number of participants is 15 and youth will be prioritized above adults.
